Massachusetts is 4th for hospitals in the country.

A new study that came out by Leapfrog, a voluntary survey for hospitals to show transparency to the public, came out and it ranks Massachusetts 4 for overall hospitals with an A rating. The leader of the country was New Jersey.

Rhode Island came in at sixth on the list while North Dakota came in last.

The A rating accounted for 44% of all the states hospitals, while impressive was close to 10% less than the springs report. New York came in at 46th with just over 8% A rating. The great news is that no hospitals in Massachusetts came in under a C rating.

The group's survey comes strictly from a compilation of accidents, errors, infections, and injuries. No other information was obtained or factors used to influence the report. The survey is done by

The survey is released by the non profit group twice in the year both the spring and fall.

Among the A rated hospitals in the state are: Cape Cod Hospital, Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital including Faulkner, Saint Anne's Hospital, and Winchester Hospital.

B rated hospitals include, Charlton Memorial Hospital, and South Shore Hospital. Carney Hospital and Lawrence General are on the list with the other C rated hospitals.
